What happens when you mix an Irishman and a flaming redhead? A whole lot of character! Adrian and Alexis are tons of energy and are super fun to photograph. They chose Pike Place Market for their engagement session since they met nearby and it’s one of their favorite date spots. Liz and I are excited to capture their wedding in December!

Carl and Eliza were great sports and we had a blast with the fish throwers, the gum wall, and market chaos in general. I look forward to seeing more of them and shooting their wedding in June!

Thanks to the fish throwers for being a part of our session!

My sister’s son Tobias is probably the chillest, most good-natured little guy I’ve ever known and (with the help of his cousin) he’s been teaching me to appreciate babies in a whole new way.  I love this exchange between him and his dad over Easter weekend.

Plus a bonus… his new trick is to crawl at you as fast as he can until he bonks into your forehead.

I love seeing mundane things get filled with joy. Josh took this to a new level with his proposal—hiding a group of 31 friends incognito on a Seattle Metro Bus then serenading Aleya with vocal backup from the rest of the group. The bus driver stopped to give Aleya a hug, everyone else made sure to see the ring, and I’m still grinning.

Nice work Josh, and congratulations to you both!

I had the privilege of shooting the debut performance of a new jazz-soul band at LUCID Jazz Lounge. It was super refreshing to do a little improv collaboration with these guys on the images. And besides, now I can truthfully say that I shot The Trophy Buck.

This summer we had the joy of welcoming a new nephew, Peregrine Kenneth Emmanuel Nelson. So far we know that he loves sunshine and that he has the same wrinkles on his forehead as me. His name means wanderer or pilgrim.

Congratulations Andrew and Rachel!

Rather than a formal portrait session, hanging out with William (who happens to be my brother-in-law) just felt like a fun afternoon walking through the park and exploring Seattle. He’s a great guy with a passion for theater and classic musicals (someone’s got to do it!). I hope these pictures capture a bit of his quirky personality and sincere heart.

Mark and Erika are the sort of people that instantly make you feel comfortable when you’re around them. They’re thoughtful, funny, down to earth and full of laughter. At the end of a month-long stretch of shooting over a wedding a week (not to mention moving and pulling off a thesis show), their low-key celebration out at a remote cabin in Index Washington was a welcome change of pace. While editing, I enjoyed experimenting with cross-processed color and low contrast black and white. Let me know what you think!
