Canoeing the Lake Washington Arboretum – Tilt Shift Photography

Posted by on Apr 18, 2012 in Blog | No Comments

Liz and I enjoyed a beautiful day canoeing through the Lake Washington Arboretum this past weekend with some of our fabulous extended family. While out, we christened our new tilt-shift lens.

By bending the lens away from the camera, the focal plane pivots through 3D space. This results in some interesting slices of focus that would otherwise be impossible. So far shooting like this feels a little like having gravity switched to some oblique sideways angle, but it’s also exhilarating to interact with the world in a new way!
